It's Getting Better in Chatham-Kent
Today I’d like to dedicate the CIK Marketing blog to an important local cause. Last night, Pride Chatham-Kent and the It Gets Even Better Chatham-Kent planning team unveiled an original video at Brent Foster’s Photography Studio in Wallaceburg. The focus of this video, which was shot by Foster, is all about helping prevent LGBT bullying and teen suicide. Recorded in December, the video featured personal stories from over a dozen Chatham-Kent residents, including a number of local LGBT teens. More than 65 people showed up for the screening at Foster’s studio, including representatives from the local public and Catholic school boards, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, and local media.
The messages in this video are real, raw, and truly amazing. Please take the time to watch the messages in their entirety and share them with friends. No child should ever feel that suicide is the only option – this video is the first step in providing the youth of Chatham-Kent with the love and support they so desperately need.
CIK Marketing was honoured to donate the website, domain, and hosting to the It Gets Even Better CK project. This website was built as a community resource and includes a number of links to local organizations and support groups. Residents can also submit their own YouTube video to the It Gets Even Better CK project via the site, as well as take the pledge to end LGBT bullying. The site will stay live indefinitely, in the hopes that it will provide reassurance and support to questioning teens.
Last night’s screening is proof that things are already getting better in Chatham-Kent. Help us spread the message – use the sharing tools below to post this message on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, or any other social network.
